Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 October 2026

Facedown (“the game”, “we”) is a card game for Android and iOS made by Thomas Ungerer-Rehkopf, an independent developer based in Marseille, France. This policy explains what information the game uses, why, and the choices you have.

The short version: Facedown has no accounts and we don’t collect your personal information. Your settings and stats stay on your phone. If ads are shown, Google’s advertising service may collect some device information, and in the EU and UK it asks for your consent first.

1. Information stored on your device

The game saves the following on your device only. It is never sent to us or anyone else:

You can delete all of it at any time by uninstalling the game or clearing its data in your phone’s settings. Stats can also be reset from the Stats screen.

2. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The free version of Facedown shows ads, provided by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, AdMob may collect and process:

Your choices:

Google’s handling of this data is described in its own policy: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

3. In-app purchases

The “Remove ads” purchase is processed entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never see or store your payment details. The store only tells the game that the purchase has been made, so it can switch ads off.

4. Permissions

The game does not access your contacts, photos, camera, microphone or precise location.

5. Children

Facedown is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided information through the game, contact us and we will help remove it.

For players in the EU, EEA and UK: information stored on your device is used to provide the game you asked for. Personalised advertising relies on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Non-personalised ads, fraud prevention and purchase checks rely on our legitimate interest in running and funding the game.

You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to its processing, and to complain to your data protection authority. In France, that is the CNIL. Because we don’t hold your data ourselves, most requests are handled by clearing the game’s data or through Google’s privacy tools, but we’re happy to help.

7. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, for example when a new feature is added, the new version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
